Adolescent's Family Support Services of Niagara (AFSSN) is an not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering the independence of young families pursuing an education through the provision of quality child care and other necessary supports.

In-Home Care - We train and supervise caregivers in their own homes who will love and care for the child of a full or part-time student while in school.

Centre Based Child Care - We provide quality licensed child care in St. Catharines, Niagara Falls and Welland.

We accept children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age.

Support Services - We offer one-on-one emotional support and guidance, parenting and life skill training, goal setting, budgeting, guidance and crisis intervention.

Resource Teacher - AFSSN has a qualified resource teacher on staff. The resource teacher provides support to staff and parents to enrich daily learning for children with special needs and to enhance normal child development for ALL of the children. The resource teacher is available to all centres, in-home providers, outreach programs and parents.

Growing Readers - A manual to encourage early literacy in young families. available for download here.

Outreach Program - For many young mothers it is not possible to return to school with shrinking incomes, increased expenses and hectic schedules. Often it is difficult to return to a structured classroom setting. This program is an alternative program offering personalized academic and parenting support in a clubhouse atmosphere. As part of the Outreach Program, AFSSN also supports expectant students at the end of their pregnancies.

The future opportunities for young people who do not complete their secondary school education are very limited. By providing child care and other neccessary supports we can help young parents have a much better future for themselves and their children.

We offer both home care, centre care, and Outreach programs in St.Catharines, Welland, and Niagara Falls.

This program is offered for the duration of the school year. Families are assisted in finding appropriate services and/or care for the summer months.
